I'm looking to get off the $600-1,000 high end flagship train. I'm with Verizon so I'm thinking about a pixel XL or Moto x4. Any suggestions? Thanks

The Pixel XL is a fantastic phone. It is on Android Pie and gets all the security updates every month. You get unlimited photo storage on Google Photos and the hardware is terrific. I don't know much about the Moto X4. Motos are also good phones. I have a G6 Play but that will get Android P as well. The X4 will not. My last update was March 2018. My son's Pixel XL is on September 2018.

If I had to choose between the 2 I would go for the Pixel every day of the week. But that is JMHO.

If camera is important then Pixel XL is a nobrainer.
Also are you looking to get a new device from Verizon or Google?

If you are shopping for a used device, it is quite easy to get a Pixel 2XL 128GB used in Mint condition for about $475 these days.

I would suggest going for the Pixel XL as explained above you will be getting regular updates and the camera is outstanding. As the moto x4 is also good on other hand but you need to consider you need to go for the total glass body or the partial one.

Do you menathe pixel 2 or 3? and the android one X4? Either one would be great but id only buy the unlocked versions of either and NOT the carrier/branded versions.

It being a bit older does not make a difference in my mind - the original Pixel XL is an awesome choice. It has beautiful hardware, a great camera, and stock Android is always to be celebrated! Let us know what you decide!
