Tried everything. It's an android tv box. It works just fine but the remote that comes with it sucks, so I simply want to use a remote app on my phone, via the WiFi network. The problem is that it simply doesn't show up as a device on the network so none of these remote apps can find it, much less sync to it. I know it's on the network because I'm watching Netflix through it right now. It just can't be found.
