Hello All,

I have a Samsung S9+. I needed a microSD card for a GoPro so I took it out of the S9+ and offloaded its contents onto my computer prior to use. I did not realize the SD card was encrypted by the phone. The card was since formatted. I went back to my computer and the videos and photos not surprisingly are unreadable. Is there anyway to recover these photos and videos.

Thanks for any input.

I'm surprised you could format a encrypted sd card .

Sadly, no. However, you should be able to move the videos back to the device and once decrypted, you can try moving them back.

But I think whatever you did it's now corrupt, don't think you'll be able to do anything to get them back.

What can be done will depend on the level of encryption on the card.

After you put the card back into the phone and format it back as encrypted, put it back into the computer's card reader.

If the file system is not encrypted but only the files are encrypted, you should be able to copy the old encrypted files back to their original folders and let the phone decrypt them.

If the file system is encrypted, then the computer will not be able to navigate the card to put the files back.
