Help w/ downloading files with browser

I download large files often say anywhere from 200mb to 1g. The stock browser will sometimes download the files other times it will save it as a .bin file. I have a Mac computer so downloading these huge files is the only way due to not having mass storage mode. Has anyone found a way around this? A certain browser or configuration? A downloader app? When I had my Ipad2 I used "perfect downloader" to download any file. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

The problem is downloading the file, not extracting or managing

Ah. I get it. Ends up as a binary.

I don't know how you can fix the download issue. I know one alternative means of getting files onto my Tab that works great is via the USB connector. I don't know what the Mac implications of that are.

sometime it's the service that's doing it and you have no control what they send no matter which browser or browser settings.
