Help w/Text messages with a download button

Thanks, that was the trick. I use the smallest data plan available and never use mobile data except for emergencies and leave it turned off. As long as a sender is using MMS to send, I just get the download button. This even includes senders who use decorative signatures, wallpapers, etc which defaults their message to sending MMS and that disables my phone from receiving. Having them go back to pure text allows me to receive everything and use my unlimited texting option. Unfortunately it isn't controllable from the receiver;s phone, only the senders phone. If it leaves the senders phone using MMS, the receiver cannot accept the message without accepting it MMS and that requires your mobile data to be on.

Why is it on some text messages that I receive - will have a download button. It does nothing!~!!! It says it is downloading but nothing ever comes of it.
Not even the text part shows just who it was from. I have received texts with pictures with no problems, then randomly I'll get one of these.

I figured this problem out everyone! Hopefully for a majority you.

There is a setting under your phones data usage section called "data saver". Turning this option on makes it so while your running any other app on your phone, no other app, including text messaging, will be able to function. This is why your text messages are displaying a download button instead of coming through normally. Simply turn off data saver and Bing bang boom. Fixed!

If this doesn't help you with your specific problem... I'm sure the solution lies in the data section of your phone. In one way or another.

Hope this helps!

Solution for me was to allow auto-download of MMS in Android Messages app settings, advanced.
