I have the 16GB VZW S4 right now. I'm thinking of returning it and waiting for the 32GB to drop.
But I can't figure out if I will need the extra MB. I have a 64 GB SD card in the phone now, full of movies and mp3s.

I have installed just about every app that I would naturally use and still have 7.72GB of free space.

How am I going to fill that space? Angry Birds average less than 50MB. In 7.00 GB, I could install 140 copies of Angry Birds.

Are there games that are 500 MB out there?

Yes, there are.....but if you have installed everything you'll use, you should be good to go. I am with Verizon as well and waiting for the 32gb S4 (if there will be such a thing) - I have the 32gb S3 and don't want to go down in size. But that's a personal preference thing for me. I also use the 64gb card.

Modern Warfare is right at 1.75gb in size.

It's primarily HD games, like those converted from console systems.

Unless you're into that sort of thing, honestly, 16GB is probably enough for most people. For those that do enjoy games, however, that 16GB can go really quick.

If I'm not mistaken, some, if not all, cloud storage music services only allow you to "pin" music to internal storage. If you plan on using that feature and have more than a couple gig of music then 16gig might not be enough. If you just synch your phone with a music manager or drag and drop your music files to your phone you can use the SD card.

Google Music does only allow you to "pin" music to internal storage, yes, but if you manually add music files to your SD card, the Music app will see it.

I don't think a 32 gig is needed. Plus, I don't play games on my phone. That is why I have an iPad.

To me it's just not worth it. I am happy with my 16 gig

I probably would agree in this case, but I want a 32GB S4 and also have an iPad 4- 128gb. Yes, too much iPad for most.

If MSFT came out with Office for Android, that could be a big app and might push people to want more internal memory. But even still, how big could that be. They would feature limit it anyway to keep it from being too good - even if they did offer it.
Couldn't be more than 500 MB. Prolly 250.

I waited for the AT&T 32 gig version before getting mine. I have a 64 gig sd card installed. I would probably got the 16 gig if that was all that's available. but for $50 double internal memory is a no brainer for me.
