Help with getting Text Message notifications.

So you have a Droid Turbo and an ATT version of the LG 2nd edition release? When you go into Cellular settings > advanced> Acccounts> Does your Verizon number show up?
The only thing I can think of is that your watch doesn't see your Google Messenger as a default stock up for some reason.
Anyways, yes my messenger app has the phone and watch icon. I can switch back and forth to either phone number.

Yes, I had cellular data turned off on both devices. I only had wifi active on my LG 2nd edition and VZW Note 5. I, also, I tried it out with my Note 5 turned completely off and I was able to receive and makes calls with my LG 2nd edition with only wifi.
I think "NumberSync" is what ATT brands the function of being able to make calls from an smartphone number but I do not think it's an ATT only feature. I think it's actually built in the LG urbane 2nd edition and companies can implement this feature any way they like. I can assure you that I do not have ATT service at all with either of my devices.
While ATT calls this function Numbersync, Verizon calls it Messaging + calling. However, it's the same premise but the way to link the smartwatch and smartphone are different. ATT uses the Numbersync app and Verizon uses Messaging + to activate this feature on their networks.
I looked at the pamphlet that came with my ATT watch on how to activate Numbersync. It appears that Numbersync the app is just a way to register a compatible device with your ATT smartphone number. The wording on the pamphlet says Numbersync is a way to make calls from your smartwatch even when the smartphone is turned off. Verizon's description is similar when talking about Messaging + calling but it's not limited to purely cellular or Verizon branded devices.
This isn't an official explanation from LG, Verizon or ATT but based on both of our testing, it seems to be the case.
See this is puzzling! On my set up, I can still get text messages and reply to them just as long as my smartphone is still turned on. Calling is still available too. So based on that, it appears that AW cloudsync is working. I don't think it's the messenger app that's causing the issue. It might be since ATT's Numbersync is bound to cellular service maybe it disables AW cloudsync instead. Maybe it can't do calls and data at the same time?
We already know that Numbersync doesn't work over wifi but Verizon's implementation does. So it's probably an ATT limitation rather than an AW or LG issue.
I can test this using cellular connections today. But I know it works over wifi including calls, messaging, sending, receiving and notifications.
Edit: Just tested it right now. Everything works with calls and text messaging including receiving and sending. My watch and smartphone are using their own cellular connections. Tmobile on my watch and VZW on my smartphone. They are disconnected from each other. Notifications work.
The only difference I see between using cellular vs wifi is that my watch makes me turn on "watch shares number" for both calls and text then I lose the "play phone audio on wear" option in Bluetooth when on wifi. On cellular, I don't have to do any of that. I literally just need to turn on cellular on my watch and leave my phone turned on. Then I can leave and get my calls and messages. I do not see a difference in battery life either. No matter what, if cellular connectivity is bad or if you use it to make phone calls then battery life is going to drain faster than it would if it was connected via Bluetooth.

When you are paired, and when someone calls, does your watch ring as well as your phone? And when you answer the call.on your phone, does the watch say that you missed the call? Is this normal?

I just tried this right now.
When I'm paired, both my watch and phone ring. When I answer the call on my watch or my phone, I do not get a missed call on either device.
So if you get a missed call even if you answered it on one of the devices, that's not normal. Is your play phone audio on watch visable? I used to get missed calls on my watch or phone when I answered it on one of the devices when my set up was where that option in Bluetooth was not visible. I think when it's automatically turned on that's where the inconsistencies happen.

No , Number sync is a different feature than what you have on Verizon. So don't call yours Number sync because that greatly confuses me. It works quite differently and also don't support call over Wi-Fi.

My bad. I agree it's a different feature but generally the same function except Verizon does more. The thing we can probably agree on is that it's a b*tch to get it to work just right on both carriers.
I'm not sure what to call Verizon's feature though. Messaging + calling does not provide a good description of what it really does. Numbersync is a lot more accurate.

I think we should refer to Verizons Sync as just CloudSync or Vsync just for simplicity.

Yeah when you do Calling setup, it turns on "watch shares number with phone". That can be found under settings>cellular>advance. Click on that and turn off call and text messages. That should bring back the Play phone audio on watch back in Bluetooth settings. That should fix that problem with getting a missed call notification on the watch or phone.
I must have missed that part about you having an active ATT sim in your watch. Then maybe that's the cause of all of your issues. Do what what foxbat said and have ATT disable or de-register your LG watch.

If you are using an AT&T SIM, you can only use Number sync. You will have to use non-AT&T SIM in order to see other options.

That is what I have, no option for call sharing. After I did a watch Reboot, the ATT NumberSync thing disappeared. But it still looks like that. Not only that, but also Messenger started acting up again and has no conversations. I did another factory reset and had my conversations after I did the setup. Now I don't
It's my understanding if you have an AT&T SIM, there isn't an option under cellular> advanced for sharing, but there is cellular>NumberSync. Is this correct? If you don't have AT&T, then there isn't a cellular>NumberSync option.
What if you remove the ATT sim, does that option show up? And use wifi? If it does show up, then that sucks that ATT would disable that when using their sim. Or I'll give ATT some credit and say that maybe you didn't fully complete the Integrated Messaging activation with messages+.

When Number sync is activated, it changed Messenger so that it does not participate in AW cloud sync at all. It only gets its messages from cellular radio. This is done on purpose to avoid messages show up twice. AT&T's implementation is that once NumbeSync is activated, all your messages to your phone's number also get pushed to your watch's SIM as if your watch's SIM is the same as your phone's SIM. So text messages get synced over (for me, it takes a few minutes to sync back all my old messages). After the switch over, if you disable cell radio on the watch, you can't receive or send text message any more.
