So, can anyone help me with changing the PRL on my Optimus V without reverting back to a stock rom? After getting some sweet gingerbread action, I find it a pain to go back to froyo. Surely, there's a way to do it right? I've looked at some other threads with a similar issue but none I've tried seem to work with the OpV. If someone could teach me how to do it or a least point me in the right direction, it'd be very much appreicated.

I don't have gingerbread on my phone but I've been told that you have to restart in recovery mode for it to work.

You could always make a nandroid of both gingerbread and froyo and switch between the two. I haven't changed my PRL in at least a couple months.

The above post is correct. You will need to boot into recovery to have qpst recognize your phone.

I've tried booting it into recovery but that doesn't seem to do the trick. Back on stock I could just turn the phone off and everything works out great, but after flashing IHO my computer can't seem to see the com port no matter what I've tried. The whole switching between two roms just seems kinda annoying for something that doesn't have to be.

i flashed my PRL on a IHO rom using the steps in the prl guide. i did not know this was an issue? if i did it why cant you? it worked perfect for me, my old OV is still on 11115

Just curious, but you have usb debugging enabled right? (you should it's default on most of these ROMs). I know on froyo I have to plug the phone into the computer, then turn the phone off while it's still connected for QPST and my computer to see it, so possibly you needed to do the same only boot into recovery instead of turning it off? Otherwise I'd check your drivers, see if those are the problem

Yeah I have usb debugging enabled. The problem is my phone doesn't stay off. Doesn't matter if it's the charger or the computer, if the phone is off and plugged up it immediately reboots. Is there just some stupidly simple setting I haven't turned on or off?

No I believe that's just an IHO thing, which is why people say to reboot into recovery. Unfortunately I've got froyo so I'm not sure how to be of more help

The computer doesn't seem to see it in recovery either. Oh well, I guess if I don't find a solution soon, I'll just make the jump back to froyo to change it.

you need to be booted into the os an have the LG usb serial drivers installed (this means uninstall the original LG drivers.)
this is not like running adb commands, do anything wrong and you will break your phone as you are reprogramming the radio.

...Uhmmm yeah I already have the lg drivers properly installed. I believe the problem comes from the fact that i'm using the IHO recovery/kernel if any one can verify this? Device manager can see the ports but qpst doesn't recognize the phone as active. So, flashing a compatible Xionia kernal should work right? Plus I thought the PRL of my phone had nothing to do with the firmware of my radio? I've changed the PRL on the stock VM rom many a time, the problem is just doing it with cm7 without reverting back to froyo.

yes, the iho kernel won't talk to pst's. including qpst. the iho recovery kernel is no different.
you can use a xionia anykernel and use qpst booted into the rom, or another recovery than the iho, and use qpst in recovery.
