Still waiting..... how long do these force closes take???..Edit: NM.. just rebooted.. This better be good!! CM6 with Snap has been hyped up more than the 08 Elections lol..
 
Something aint right..... Haven't gotten higher than 33 on Linpack... o_O

For Quadrant I wouldn't say "only", but getting 1900, not the 2500 that other people were getting. Something is def up

Something isn't right. It's really sluggish when going through the home screens and app drawer. Does cm not play nice with LP?
 
Any one know when/where i can get my hands on a functional version of the new sense...and wether its fast?:p

Sooo I've been using CM for a few hours now. Really didn't have the time to set things up but I do have some first impressions. It's a great rom. There's no denying that. But I'm kind of mixed on it. First the good. It's fast. Maybe not as fast as I though it would be, but still fast. At first I was having some serious lag. I thought maybe CM didn't play nice with LP (which would have really pissed me off) but when I cleared the data from LP it was nice and smooth. I guess my backup for LP is useless.. But since then, very very smooth. I haven't seen anything that even resembles lag or even stutter. While it may not seem as fast as I though it would be, it's definitely more consistently fast than other roms if that makes sense. Even with the fastest rom I've tested before there's always a slight hiccup once in a blue. Not with CM. Then there's the camera. They've definitely done some work with the camera app. I took some test pictures that I'll post tomorrow and unless I'm that tired/drunk the pics from CM definitely look better. I haven't had a chance to test the video though. But so far I mostly like the camera quality and app better than the htc one. Although there are a few things I like about the htc app itself better in terms of settings... I also LOVE the way things zoom in and out. One thing I noticed is no matter what rom/kernel combo, the way the Evo zooms is weird. It's not that flowy type of zooming you see with other phones. Its like you have to pick where you're gonna zoom, and that's it. If you move your fingers anywhere else it wont follow it. I'm not sure if I'm describing it right or not but it always annoyed me. Well i love it on CM. If anyone has no idea what i'm talking about let me know, i'll make a really quick video of it. Also, I found that even though the keyboard is smaller than that stock htc keyboard, it's more accurate. It's realllly weird but the keyboard on CM seems WAY more accurate and definitely faster than ANY keyboard I've ever tried on any rom or even 3rd party app. Now here's my problem with CM.. those are really the only things i like about it.. (Flame suit on) It's not as fast as I thought, but its consistently fast which to me is more important. So huge thumbs up to CM for that. It seems to take better pictures, the keyboard is awesome and the zooming is better. But off the top of my head, from just a few hours of using it, there really isn't much more for me to write about. Here are a few of my initial complaints... First is stability. I tried CM a WHILE ago when I first rooted. it was a disaster. I spent more time looking at force close pop ups than actually using the phone. I chalked it up to either a bad download, I didn't wipe something right or something I didn't think of yet.. Well, it may not be as bad as the last time I tried, but I've honestly gotten more force closes in the few hours I've used CM than I ever did in the 1+ month of using VaelPak. I'm being completely honest too. Launcher Pro forced closed about 5 or 6 times. The camera app forced closed a few times. As well as astro and dolphin browser. That's a hell of a lot of force closes for such a short period of time. I tried to wipe cache and dalvik just in case but nothing helped. It's just too unstable for my taste. Then there's no 4G and HDMI which is well known but for me is very important. I'm in a 4G area and I have a HDMI cable. There were like two other things but for the life of me I can't remember. They weren't that big of a deal, just annoying. Wasn't that important if I forgot already lol. But anyway. It's a great rom. There's just something about the rom that I can't pin point yet that's left me almost a little disappointed. Maybe another day or so I'll warm up to it. I'll definitely have a NAND backup after I get everything set up the way I want to so whenever I want to play around I can. But I think when I get my new Evo replacement tomorrow, I'm gonna stick to what's worked for me flawlessly and have CM as backup rom to mess around with...

Try it on your new phone "tomorrow" cuz I mean to be fair that unit IS faulty. :-)

Honestly, I am keeping that in the back of my mind. The phone's been acting really crazy since the other day. Screen goes in and out, freezes then starts up again. Bunch of other weird stuff so I wouldn't be surprised if it has something to do with it. I'm actually not even gonna do a NAND backup of CM. I wanna start it from scratch tomorrow and try it for a day or two. I don't want to come off as not liking it because I do. It's a VERY VERY good rom. There's just something that's holding me back from loving it like everyone else. I tried CyanogenMod-6 - No Sense at ALL! - V6.0.0 (08/28/2010) I believe it's the stable and not the nightly.
 
Ya that's the stable. I would say its the phone cuz I know it is. Haha no but seriously. I don't wanna say I've never had a force close but I don't remember wat or when its been that long. I use lp and never notice any lag with that either. I know you'll prob never leave vp but I do want you to have the right experience so one day you can say its the best :-P

You do know that you NEVER use nands from different phones right?

If you didn't know that, consider your azz saved, it's even been known to bork radios.
 
Wow I am shocked to hear that I would definitely say try it with the new phone cause I've been using the nightly which I would assume to be more unstable then the so called stable for about 5 days, and I can honestly say I've had one force close using foursqaure the other day which shocked the heck out of me!
