So I was getting out of my car yesterday and had my phone in my purse on hip height and it fell out...

Gorilla glass my ... the right side along the edge shattered. Top and bottom. LCD is minimal black on the right upper side

I'm just hoping since i havent turned my note 7 in at the ATT store with i have to on the 21st that they'll still replace it.

What makes me mad is that it didn't even survive a little drop like this :(

Thats terrable seems to be the corners are the weak spot , well at least its not your new one.
Note 7 must have insurance bummer
And no case ??

I usually have a Case on but of course last night I didn't. I took it off to connect the Aux cable from the car which doesn't fit otherwise. (I drove a 07 Jeep Grand cherokee, no Bluetooth lol, and time to upgrade on the car anyways too)

Of course I have insurance for thr Note 7 but to use it now when i have to anyways give it back its not worth it... hahaha.. just in time to get the replacement.

It just sucks because it happend the last days I will have it.

The edges are definitely a weak spot and the height from where it fell should of been no problem to withstand. I've seen videos where they hammered that thing with force so a light drop shoupdnt of been this desasterous. LOL

I'm happy though it still works..

Lmao Bluejayy... I cant have you see my butt implants hahaha. 😎

I'm approaching delicately like I would with my wife (no offense)...... Did you have a case on it? Key word in Gorilla Glass is the latter word ;) Since this device is covered in glass it is a crack magnet that only a drop absorbing case could love.

Honestly... hip height... regardless of device, I'm happy if it survives. It's about 50/50 chance tho.... 5 LG g2's I had with busted screens from much less than hip height... of the 5, 4 were less than 2". The other (1st insurance claim in 5 years) was a worthy drop off a bar stool. The replacements, we'll they were b*i*t*c*h*e*s....

Yep. Sucks. You're lucky with this recall though... you get a do over with a new phone :)

People are going to tell you what do you expect, it's glass. But you see quite a few posts about hip height drops and less... just to me causes concerns this glass is more fragile than others.

Corning stands by their specs on the glass and I believe the specs. But I feel if a company takes their glass and modifies the glass to their specs... like Samsung shaping the glass to their specs getting the curves... and the only way you can reshape is by using heat... then my guess they've potentially knocked down the spec of the glass now... at least at the curved sides and corners.

Like Erica Griffin says in her review... time will tell. The Note 7 was released... 8/19? Everyone gets new phones so it's a do over and we'll see. You know what I'm hoping? They recognize the glass could be brittle at the sides and they figure out a change to make their glass but maybe as simple as reducing heat to maintain strength in curves and it makes all the difference in the world. After this battery issue they are doubling their QC efforts and looking into any little thing to avoid any more stories on the Note 7

Good luck on your new phone.

The only way to stop from cracking is stop casing the device with it. It is silly to to case a portable device in Glass. The display would not crack so easy, but the kinetic energy flows through the glass. I have a case with bumpers for the corners and the top edges. Even with this case I have doubts. An MXPE, this ain't. Dropped that one several times in theaters and house. All solid floors. I think the Note 7 would not go uncracked like the MXPE. No way.

Well rumor is future S series phones will be looking like the Note 7 with the curved glass. Rumor has it that the iPhone 8 will be all glass. I personally prefer it not be but watcha gonna do :-\
