Hisense S7P custom ROM problem

I've been having this problem. With a few custom ROMs, specifically Taktik 4.4.2 and DOPA v1.1 4.4.2, the problem is that with when in a dark room my screen goes dim and unable to turn it back on. Unless in turn the light back on.

Anybody have a good idea what is going on? Its annoying the hell out of me.
