Honeymoon Period

I am still enjoying the Honeymoon. I have had it for 1 month now. Deep down the cheap accountant in me nags me about the price. I was going to swap out my Pixel XL but changed my mind. Going to keep it as backup.

But, this phone is excellent! Expensive yes but worth it to me so far.

That's understandable - it's a steep price point but at least you are getting excellent value for your money!

And that was very wise of you to keep your XL as a backup! It's good to have a spare phone lying around in case something happens to your current one!

Yeah, the cell id thing was more a procedural derp than anything nefarious... They were planning on using the data to improve cloud messaging... The data wasn't kept, wasn't used. Yes, they should have disclosed it, but from their perspective, it really wasn't targeted to be used like other location data.. wasn't shared with the advertising arm, wasn't used for anything for that matter as they decided to not use the system.

Google knows my location far better than anything my connected cell towers give them... They've known my exact location for years... Storing it and keeping it safe and secure. They don't sell it, they don't share it, and I get to utilize a ton of tools based off that data.

Which I can access any time, anywhere, by the way.

Besides, this info isn't the holiest of holies, either. Any app with phone permissions can get this data. Those signal check apps can gather these IDs... You know all those OpenSignal reports? Do you think they guess where users are? No, they know what towers their users are connected.

I used to use an automation app that used a low power location function based on my cell ID.

Ya, wow, ok . . just noticed that the Pixel2 (nonXL) is a 49.99 upgrade on our corporate plan . . guess I'm getting serious now, my only concern is the small screen size, but sounds like y'all aren't having a problem with that?

I most certainly had no problem with it.

No problems here. Went from Galaxy S7 Edge to first Pixel and now to Pixel 2. Screen size is great and phone has been flawless.

I hate my 2xl lol, I go through periods of where I tolerate it and where I hate it and then where I like it. Right now I just hate it but it is what it is

If you're really not happy... Why not get rid of it and find something you like?
Unless of course it is doing something for you that no other phone can.

What are the issues that lead you to the hate end of the spectrum?
Well, I can see how some things could drive people nuts. I'm particular, Bluetooth interoperability, the true toxic hellstew of tech, can make even the most level headed person want to throw their phone out their car window (since it's far harder to throw their car).

Everyone's use case is different.

General experience with Google support, lag, screen unresponsiveness (I know Google is working on that), battery life, lack of cases (that's petty I know), size of the screen (I want it bigger lol) and a general let down of stock Android.

Also I would just lose too much money with selling it, plus it's saving grace is it's camera.

Did you get a dud or something???

Battery life is tremendous. Screen doesn't have any issues like that?? Go to Amazon for cases.. Get the bigger one?

If you really hate it why do you have it?? That's a simple question. Hahah

To be clear, I am not questioning her feelings about the phone. I am curious what the main things trouble her are.

Oh wow. I wasn't expecting that you would prefer an even bigger device. Options there are pretty limited

Im not going for a 5th RMA if I can help it. Google acknowledged the screen unresponsiveness is a software issue with a fix "soon", I have the 2xl but I'm just used to 8-10 hours sot consistently on my note 8, 6-8 on my 2xl drives me nuts especially when it's barebone right now, lower brightness and I game 30% less on it. I want the gaudy cute cases and pixel doesn't have those unfortunately. Google pretty much shafted me and selling would net me too much of a loss.

Yeah, Everytime I play with my crushes note 8 I miss the large screen. The bigger the better

Some of the complaints here just baffle me. Not enough cute, gaudy cases available? How about doing a bit of research about what's available BEFORE buying a phone...?

Just want to remind anyone that everyone's entitled to their opinions... Good or bad.
. The OP wanted to hear people's experiences. Don't attack people because they don't share your view.

I haven't had any issues, and I flat out love this phone! It's the best phone I've ever had.

I am using the Google Assistant way more than I thought I would, and I'm usually using the Active Edge to summon her.

I had Google Assistant on my previous Samsung S6, like all Android phones. But I find the implementation on the Pixel 2 to be way more useful.

I also really like the Now Playing function, and the Google Lens.

I can't think of anything that I don't like. Battery life on my P2XL is simply amazing! I'm pretty sure I could go 2 full days on a charge, though I charge once a day. I always have at least 50% left when I put it back on the charger.

I guess the only thing I miss from my S6 would be the wireless charging, and it's really not a huge loss. If they put that in the Pixel 3, great. If they don't, no biggie. I also don't miss the headphone jack, the dongle works great, and I got some new Sennheiser BT IEMs that sound great.
You made the blog

How's the Pixel 2 treating you after the honeymoon phase?

I've had it for about a month now and after owning three iPhones, it's still the best phone I've ever had. The only issues I have are Bluetooth related. When making calls in our 2013 Subaru, recipient's voices are garbled, but they can hear us crystal clear. And occasionally when connecting to various Bluetooth devices, both the phone and device say connected, but the sound still comes out the phone. I usually have to toggle Bluetooth on and off a few times or reboot the phone. Other than that, I love the phone. oh, and I prefer Boosted mode for the colors.

I'm sorry you're not happy with your choice! I can understand your hesitation to sell it; but there are a lot of people wanting 2 XL's! It's actually backordered when I go to my carrier's website - it's that in demand! I'm sure you'd find someone who would want to take it off your hands. It wouldn't be as much as you paid for it, of course, but something is better than nothing; and then you can get another phone! Keep us posted! :)
