Honor 8 frequent crash/reboot

I recently purchased a used Honor 8, and love it almost all of the time. Biggest problem I've had is a frequent crash/restart issue. Seems to happen most frequently when using the stock (Huawei) camera app, but I've had it happen when answering and making phone calls, using multiple apps, etc. It even went into a boot loop once while just sitting idle on a table.

It's most repeatable by simply taking a few photos with the camera and then, boom the screen goes black and either reboots by itself or has to be restarted. The fact that it has happened elsewhere leaves me wondering if it's not solely tied to the camera. Perhaps there is a hardware issue, but I can't find anyone else experiencing similar issues with this phone.

I've tried booting into safe mode and it's happened there as well. The only thing I could think to try was a factory reset. Done that a couple of times now with no improvement.

Can anyone think of any other way I can troubleshoot this?

The only thing that i can suggest would be to do a factory data reset. If that doesn't work then I would suggest that you try to contact Honor support to see if they will help, or if you can return it then i would do so.

I've been using my phone for months now and apart from one random reboot I've never had the phone act strange. I've even used it as a camera for a family function and took about 190 photos in a span of 4 hrs and the phone didn't let me down. It would be best if u contact Honor support since I think u have a a defective unit.

Thanks for the responses guys. I've tried a factory reset a couple of times, but it hasn't helped. I bought the phone used, so unfortunately I don't have any warranty support. I hate to dump the phone, but I'm beginning to think I may have to.

Did you buy the used phone directly from the seller, or online? Does that site have any kind of way to contact them, such as customer support?

Good point. If you bought it using PayPal then you should have some protection. Might be worth looking into.

I've had some lags before but never a reboot. Try out a whole different launcher
