Glass. It's the latest trend in smartphone design, and the Honor 8 is no exception. With a glossy back like the Samsung Galaxy s6/s7, the Honor 8 delivers on Honor's promise of flagship design, without flagship cost. While many were indifferent when Samsung decided to redesign their "s" line with a premium design, the premium design on the Honor 8 was much appreciated due to the lower cost and the thought which they put into it (plus, it does look really cool).

However, I am most definitely not saying that the Honor 8 is a ripoff. While the original design may have been inspired by that of Samsung, I am of the opinion that the Honor 8 looks better on account of the highly-touted 15 layers of glass (buzzword alert) that give it a seemingly deeper or more textured feel.

While the look of a phone is not something that is particularly high on my personal list of requirements, there is no doubt that smartphones are becoming less like tools and more like fashion accessories. The Honor 8 makes that fashion statement, at a low cost.

Happy Androiding!

(note: the Honor 8 report will most likely be discontinued after around September 7th, as I begin school at that time. Yes, you read that right, the Honor 8 Report is made by a grade school student. ^_^)

Does the Honor come with a clear case in the box? I noticed it in one video hands-on. Would be nice to protect all that shiny glass

I agree with your point about the look of a phone. How it looks matters a lot to me. I also appreciate that there's a true white phone here, along with the blue of course. That glossy back though.

I also have a question though. I don't know if you know the answer, but I figure that it's worth asking anyway. Why is the Rose Gold (?)/Pink and Gold only available in some markets and not others?

I am not quite sure why that decision was made, but I do know that color such as gold and rose gold are in high demand, so leaving those color options out seems like a bad marketing decision. Maybe they are saving those colors for a special promotion, or releasing them later, for an edge in press (longer press coverage, more customer). Also, fair warning, you may already be aware of this, but buying an international model to use in the US (or anywhere it wasn't originally made for) can lead to compatibility issues, and while you may be able to activate them, they will only get 3G data speeds at best.

Happy Androiding!

Thank you for answering! It's fine, I'll probably go with the white, because I don't know if I have enough patience for the blue. lol.

I will be honest... I don't like a lot of glass... More that can shatter. It does look very nice though
