The Honor 8 comes in two configurations, 32GB and 64GB. Thankfully, Huawei decided not to include the difference in RAM, which is, in my opinion, a terrible decision for any OEM to make.

The Honor 8 supports MicroSD cards up to 200GB, so external storage can be has aplenty, but I do wonder if it will support adoptable storage. Many major OEMs have disabled adoptable storage out of fear that people will use slow SD cards and blame the lack of speed on the phone. However, I think Honor would really suceed if they marketed adoptable storage, as it is a feature that is simple to understand, and easy to implement.

What do you think about the Honor 8 and its storage capabilities? Are you looking forward to adoptable storage?

I think both sizes are great choices. You can't go wrong with either one.

Adoptable storage is an interesting idea, I think I'll be indifferent if they went that way. I only had one phone with that and I never used it. I see it as a nice option for those who have a sizeable music collection that they like to have at all times.

I also store my movie collection offline

With all photos and videos stored to an SD card. I don't really think I'll need more than 32GB of on board storage. I kind of don't really understand why they have the 64GB option. Doesn't Marshmallow even let you run apps from an SD card?

I'm fine with 32.

Usually slide one of those 128GB cards in there too.
I have to say that much storage for me is just a waste.
The prices are low however so why not.

I've learned to manage storage after dealing with Windows phone minuscule storage for a few years.
These days I dump apps regularly, use cloud services much more than I used to, constantly clean junk and duplicate or crappy photos out.

That's only if the OEM enabled Adoptable Storage

Yeah, I think larger amounts of storage can really encourage laziness XD

I think 32 should be the minimum for any device that wants to be in the midrange or better. Properly, it should be any device made, as apps and the OS are getting bigger and bigger.

To keep the RAM equal across the board was a good move. I see no reason to offer more RAM coupled with a higher internal storage.

Agreed. RAM should have nothing to do with storage, because performance should be equal.

I finally found a review that mentioned the Adoptable Storage thing, and it says that the Honor 8 does have it.

Android's Adoptable Storage feature is enabled, which allows you to treat a microSD card like internal storage.

From here

OMG YES! Now some could even argue it is better than the Samsung Galaxy s7 *cough* Samsung didn't include adoptable storage *cough*

Do you really need adoptable storage though, with 32gb internal?

I have a large Google Play Music and Movies library, and I also use my phone as a flash drive.
You can save music and movie library to sd card as well as usage for flash drive... Well that's what I would do anyway

Yeah, but I would prefer adoptable storage as a simple method to consolidate all the files. And then I could let Android decide whether a file needs to be fast or stored.
