How are the new radios?

Haven't used the new radios long enough to get a complete picture but 3G/LTE handoffs are markedly faster.

Will see if there are any other noticeable differences over the coming days.

for ones that are having meh signal or if you haven't update lately...

try *22899 to update your towers/roaming

it worked for me-

I have immediately noticed an improvement in signal strength. The jury is out so far on handoff speed however. Will report back on that.

My phone still does the complete signal and data loss out of nowhere thing... I got a replacement phone from Amazon today, and it STILL has the same issue. Amazon offered me an exchange for a different device. As much as I love the Gnex, I'm only human and can't deal with these endless radio defects. I know good GNex's exist out there, but how many replacements will it take to finally have one in my hands?

Good to know. I am in the same boat as you. I'm on my 2nd GN which is improved for sure, but I still get drops out of nowhere when 4G is active. On 3G, I don't seem to have the mobile network failures.
I'm going to hang on just a bit longer and keep working with my GN, but I am glad to hear that Amazon Wireless is willing to work with folks as I got mine there too.

I had the leaked 4.0.4 radios that were leaked a couple months ago and never had this problem, now with the new leaked radios it has happened a few times today and signal isn't any better that I've noticed.

My screen shots with the new radios installed. I used to be in the 80's dbm. Now I'm in the high 60's to 70's range in the same location.

same exact thing, same exact story
Im a little pissed though about this persistent issue

All I want is for the phone to quit having the microphone cut out and for it to quit having that ridiculous screeching sound during calls. I loved it besides that. I could handle the 4G/3G handoff.

Does anyone know if the microphone/screeching sound is fixed with these radios?

The only difference I can see is the 3G/4G hand off. Otherwise the signal strength/quality for this phone is still sub par. Have my friend's RAZR MAXX sitting next to my GNex and the MAXX has 3 solid bars of 4G. My GNex bounces between 1 and 2 bars of 3G. As someone else around here mentioned and as I have believed from the start; it's a hardware issue and no amount of software releases will fix this. It's a shame cause I really, really like this damn phone.

I flashed the new radios this morning and i went from 1 bar of 4g last nite to today showing 3bars consistently and my wife has the razor maxxx and she is showing the same.

There was a rather technical thread earlier this year basically saying that visual bars don't mean anything regarding signal strength. It was also flat out stated by Samsung that this patch would essentially add an extra bar of signal for visual purposes only. Compare the before and after dbm, everything else is placebo.

Yep, signal STILL sucks. Last Samsung phone I ever buy, and I stayed away from Motorola because of the locked boot loader. My droid x never had signal issues and neither does the razar.

I will confirm as well that the signal is still the same. The 3G to 4G hand off is excellent now though. No improvement in signal strength at all though.
