How are the new radios?

I installed the new radios yesterday. First off, I noticed the hand-off between 3 & 4G to be almost instantaneous, were it would take a few seconds on the leaked radios. While driving into work, I immediately had a strong 4G connection & it lasted the entire drive, which never happened before. Any time I was outside the 4G signal picked right back up.
I haven't bothered with speed tests, because as long as I have a strong signal & it doesn't drop, I could honestly care less.

Are you sporting a case? I had the problems you were describing with a slip on. Replaced it with a different one that has a larger hole for the antenna. i haven't had the problem since.

Personally I think the radios are no better at all as for signal strength and may actually be worse. When I first got the phone back in December Id get around 10 dbm less that my wifes Thunderbolt. Now my wifes TB fluctuates between like -61 to -67 while my Nexus now -75 to -83. So as far as signal strength I see no improvement.

Granted at the end of May/begining of June when my convalescent leave ends and Im back at work Ill even know more. I never got more than 2bars sitting at my desk in our building.

I'm seeing similar signal improvements on the new 4.0.4. I get 4G at home now where I was getting 3G with barely a bar. And the switch from 3G to 4G switches instantly no connection drops.

Already been rumored that Google is looking to Samsung again for the next Nexus....

After all why would Google want to look elsewhere when Sammy is basically sitting on top of the world in cell phone sales.

I usually just run 3G at work, have noticed significantly better signal since flashing the official 4.0.4 radios (was using leaked 4.0.4 prior)

I noticed the hand off between 3G and 4G was instantaneous, while the bars were higher and the connection was stronger. I have noticed some additional battery drainage but I also flashed a new kernel from Franco so I will report back once everything is stabilized.

Yep it's a safe bet they stick with Sammy. I would LOVE to see a moto nexus though, assuming the screen tech is improved, but I'm sure they wouldn't choose them unless they were wowed by what they see so yeah.

Worst thing IMO is that its also a safe bet this is the last time we see a Nexus on Verizon

There are a few Nexus' on Sprint isnt there? They are CDMA too so updates should be about as bad there.

I was running the leaked 4.0.4 radios before. These made no improvement to the horrible indoor 4G connectivity. My wife's Thunderbolt still runs circles around this dung-beetle when it comes to 4G reception.

I work in a basement and used to be able to stream Pandora on my Droid X for a majority of the day, often losing signal here and there. The basement is practically a dead zone. My Nexus goes all day without signal. Verizon tech suggested I get a new SIM card. Will this help? It's embarrassing my coworkers Thunderbolt gets signal down here. Anyone similar to my situation now getting signal on the 4.0.4, like some kind of miracle?

I updated to the leaked 4.0.4 that was out a couple days ago and what I notice is a slightly improved signal strength and I have not sene the connection drop for no reason which I saw a lot pre updating. In my office I used to be lucky to get 1 3g bar now I have a solid 3 bars of 4g.

Wouldn't this issue be gone once Verizon goes completely to 4G?

I'm not clear on what your asking.. Rephrase?

But also note it would be many many years before such a thing happened... Just because every phone gets 3g doesn't mean they've cut off the 1x network, know what I mean?

Dl'ed last night. Can't really see if signal improved since I always usually get full bars, but My speed has definitely improved. I don't remember the exact #s I used to get, but I never had these kind of speed before.

I definitely notice an improvement. At a location where I used to get 2bars, I now have 4 and have not had any problems with data.
