Yes, can be very convenient on opening certain apps. Since you're finger is already place back there

Nope. But still faster to grab it, unlock it with fps then click it than pressing the power button put your pin code then the click on the app.

What I hate is the poor resale value. Sold it because I got the LG V30. No issues, just addiction.

I know that's why I'm not bothering with the Mate 10 Pro.

Interestingly enough this lost is similar to Google Pixel XL and reason why I can't upgrade to Pixel XL 2.

Regarding the V30, the resell wouldn't be as bad. I only lost $60 when I sold my G6.
