How backordered is backorder?

Ordered the Gear S3 Frontier LTE (AT&T) version from Samsung this weekend. They have a sale price until Jan 28 of $299.00, $50.00 off retail at the AT&T store or online.

Of course, the watch shows as "back ordered" on the Samsung site.

Anyone have any experience with how long you have had to wait for back ordered watches to become available?

Are we talking days? Weeks?

I "think" Samsung USA sales is actually done by a fulfillment company and they maintain very little stock. I have seen this pop up in connection with several other electronic items from Sammie Direct. Hoping it's just a matter of getting stock replenished form "Sammie Main."

Any thoughts or experience?

I did the same thing before I cancelled mine one week before they said there will be some stocks coming... But I already waited for 3 weeks prior. I was lucky though because I found a slightly used t-mobile version on swappa.com and now I'm enjoying it.

I waited about five weeks for a backordered silicone strap, if that gives you any indication.

Can you order it from Best Buy, I just was on the Best Buy App and they have the AT&T one for $250.00 with 2 year contract. Then you can get the Geek Squad Protection plan as well.

Last time I checked, the ATT version at Best Buy was the Bluetooth version, not the LTE that will work standalone.

I waited about 2 weeks for my back ordered t-mobile watch. I can't believe it's another 50 off right now. I missed out. Wonder if they'll price match

When I go to the Samsung site and log in, then go to "Order status" I get a table showing all my previous and current orders. This order does not show "back-ordered", it shows "Preparing for shipment." I called Samsung Direct eCommerce to ask about the discrepancy (Back ordered vs. Prep for Shipment). The rep told me they do not have it in stock at this time, checked their database to see if there is any "Expected date for availability." He returned to say there was no expected date noted and that they get availability updates in their database about once a week. Apparently it is truly out of stock at the fulfillment center and they likely won't get any until carrier stocks are filled. Best Buy still not carrying the LTE version for AT&T, only the Bluetooth is available. Same for Amazon. At least I got my order in while discounted -- will just have to be patient, I guess.

There are two t-mobile LTE versions on swappa.com. One is new and the other one is used. Too bad, it's the t-mobile version.

Just a heads up for anyone within the return period. They'll price match! It was painless. I just called in and within 5 min I was credited back 50 bucks.

I ordered a gear vr headset the day after Christmas and just recieved it yesterday. It entirely depends on the supply and shipping chain I would imagine.

I ordered one on black friday. Canceled last week because it was still on backorder.
I ordered mine from best buy on black Friday and recieved it the following Tuesday. Your issue is ridiculous, especially if you ordered it from the manufacturer.

Unfortunately the evidence is that Samsung does not know how to handle orders and distribute product retail. Good thing they leave that to their retail partners.
