How can I delete all of my text messages?

I have the S5. The thread is over 70,000 messages long and I've tried using various apps to delete the thread (the default messager, Textra, the delete function on SMS Backup & Restore) but it always results in the phone crashing numerous times. My last idea as to how to get rid of these messages is to plug my phone into the computer and delete the actual text data from there. I've done a little research, and I've found that the texts are stored in data/data/com.android.providers.telephony/databases/mmssms.db.

My question is-
Is there a way for me to access this file location on my phone without rooting it first?

Welcome to Android Central!

Unfortunately you will need to be rooted in order to get to that folder. Have you tried uninstalling all the extra messaging apps and then going on to you application manager and clearing the data from the messaging app?
