How can I delete an un sendable email in my out box?

I have a email in my Motorola Droid Max out box. The phone keeps trying to send it and fails. I cant open it or delete it. I keep getting a triangle icon on the screen indicating that the operation failed

Try to clear cache and app data on the app

Force close the Mail app in settings, applications, then go back to the outbox normally and delete the email.
