How can I fix a YouTube App 720 60fps lag/stutter?

YouTube App 720 60fps lag/stutter

Whenever I watch videos on YT in 60fps they always end up freezing up/lagging for like 15-30 seconds. It unfreezes after awhile but ends up happening again. Is this a problem with the app itself or my phone?

Welcome to Android Central! Which device do you have? Maybe it doesn't have the processor power to stream it smoothly.

I have a Galaxy S3 LTE version or T999L.
if the OS matters at all,it's CyanogenMod 5.1.1.

That's a pretty old phone (3.5 years), with a dual core processor, so it probably has to do with the lack of processing power. But I'm not sure, since there isn't anything on the web that specifically addresses the minimum requirements for smooth 60 fps streaming.

Ah,I figured it had something to do with it being an outdated processor. Looks like it really is time for me to upgrade,although I've had fun with this phone.

My solution to this problem is to change the playback settings to the suitable ones for the phone. Or you can download youtube videos to the phone, that helps.

The problem with downloading YouTube videos is that it violates the Terms of Service--that's why you can never find YouTube video downloader apps on the Google Play Store.

The problem is not your device. I have got Memopad HD 7 and I can watch and stream 1080p in MX Player with absolutely no lag at all. But... When I turn on any youtube video in youtube app it lags like a motherfu#ker. I tried reinstalling, downgrading, upgrading, deleting cache, deleting whole data and nothing worked. I ended up with using clipconverter to download desired video and play it in MX. Also with 60 fps audio and video in youtube app is not synced, video plays faster than audio. But after downloading video in 1080p60fps and playing it in MX there is no lag. I can only say fu#k g**gle. They f#ck everything up.
