How can I fix the error the process.com,google.process.gapps has stopped.?

the process.com,google.process.gapps has stopped. The suggested cure does not work

My Nexus 9 by HTC gets this message and it is almost impossible to open the settings. When I do, by repeatedly hitting OK I can get to download manager but can not hit the disable button fast enough, after hitting the OK on the process.com,google.process.gapps has stopped. Am sending this from a Chromebook as can not use the Nexus 9. Tried power off a couple times and repeated the steps above. Still no luck. Hope you can help!

Welcome to Android Central!

Try going in to your settings, applications, all apps, go down to Google Play and Google Play Services. Clear the cache for both of them.

Question for the OP... Did this work? My manager is having the same issues.
