How can I get into my LG G3 if the keyboard doesn't pop up?

Lg g3 - keyboard issues

I have a LG G3 and its acting up. It won't bring the pop up keyboard up so I cannot enter the password and access my stuff. Technically speaking I am locked out of my phone as I cannot enter the password without the keyboard.

I tried emergency call and the dialler pops up. I tried rebooting, safe mode, restarting the phone but nothing seems to work.

I also tried using LG PC Suite but it says to unlock phone in order to connect.

Can someone please help me. I contacted LG live support but they told me to do a factory reset. If I do that I lose everything that isn't backed up :\
And I read on one of the forums even after the factory reset the keyboard wasn't appearing.

My friends recommended debugging and trying the adb method but I have no clue what those are.

Re: Lg g3 - keyboard issues

Hello, welcome to the forums! Take a look at this thread.

LG Keyboard has stopped - Android Forums at AndroidCentral.com

Gonna have a hard time with those suggestions if he can't unlock his phone.

OP: Did you by any chance install a 3rd party keyboard and then uninstall or disable the built-in LG keyboard? I know that my prior Samsung phones would ONLY use the default keyboard during the boot-up / login sequence, and if it wasn't there would act as you describe.

If that's the case, I don't think there's any option other than to factory reset. You might be able to do something with ADB, but I can't help you there. But if you didn't already have USB debugging turned on, you won't be able to use ADB anyway.

Re: Lg g3 - keyboard issues

Hi, thankyou :)

Nope I didn't install any other keyboards. All I did was move some of my apps to my sd card to make storage space. And afterwards I couldn't get the keyboard to pop up. I managed to get into the phone using the OTG cable but it keeps restarting. I tried to reply to my whatsapp messages but the keyboard still won't pop up. And when I go into settings to clear the cache in the LG keyboard area it won't let me click on the LG keyboard.

Re: Lg g3 - keyboard issues

Hi,
I sent it for repair and it was working fine, however, something I noticed is that it reboots constantly and if it starts it won't stop. I read a few opinions on here of other users and they think it might be the battery

I had the same problem and I posted my solution in the forum suggested by Javier P, but I will copy the same text here hoping that someone who land here, just like me, he or she could have a fast working solution XD.

" Well I just had the same problem (lg g3) and I tried to reboot, shut down, remove battery. Then I went to google play store and ticked the microphone and said keyboard, then I chose google keyboard and installed it and set it up. Now I could write, but the real problem wasn't solved. Then I came here and read most of solutions, and what really worked for me was:
1 went to settings,
2 went to applications
3 all applications
4 choose lg key board
Here I tought of updating it but it didn't seem to have any more updates (settings - abour this phone - updates - application updates)
5 Having no updates I just deleted all data. This was that solved the problem.

The advice here is to install the google key board as an alternative. I had no problems at restarting and turning the phone on since I configured the knock code, so I didn't had to input characters, so here is another advice: use different access methods like knock code, finger print, pattern if available instead of alphanumeric access codes.

If you can't install it then you could log in to your google account or play.google and search for google keyboard and select the option to install it remotely.

Fortunately I didn't have to reset to factory settings, so you should try all different options before doing a factory reset.

Hope this helps someone. "
