How can I get rid of an HTC stock phone app?

Getting rid of htc stock phone app!!!

ok, this has been driving me INSANE but i hate htc's preinstalled phone app. i'm using an htc one m8 unlocked, unrooted and i have tried to install multiple other apps to use as a primary phone app.

it looks awful and i want an app with full screen, HD caller photos that syncs to fb. i've installed a half-dozen contacts apps but everytime a call comes in or goes out, it uses the goddamn htc app, even though i've "stop"ed it (won't let me disable it).

someone please help before i break this damn phone. thanks.

1) Go to Settings
2) Open Apps
3) Scroll to ALL on the right
4) Open Phone (HTC Dialer) from the list
5) Scroll down and Tap on Clear defaults
6) Now launch the dialer you want.
7) You will be asked if you want to set it as default.

Feel free to ask further questions for me, I really don't care much for the dialer. Still I hope that those steps helps you to get what you want.
