Overrode long press for multiwindow, trying to get it back

I recently switch to a 4.4.4 ROM which doesn't have the side bar tab to bring up the multi window bar. I always used to setting my long back button press to "kill app" with Gravity Box and did so again without thinking. Now I can't get MW to open, I've tried resetting to "default" and still nothing. Is there a way to fix this reset to the original button settings with wiping?

Just to make sure, you didn't just turn off the function itself?
Settings, Display, General, Multiwindow (on/off slider)?

Yes it's on, the only options I have are "Open in multi window view" "Set tray position" and "Pop up view shortcut". I have all enabled.

Maybe try shutting it (multiwindow) off, rebooting, then turning it back on? I've seen multiwindow get "confused" where parts think it's on, other parts think it's off. If that doesn't fix it, you might have to wipe settings which will affect the whole phone of course.

Settings, Device, Application Manager, slide over to All, then the ones that show Settings and Settings Storage, click them and clear data/cache.

Thank you, I tried both with no luck. Wiping the Setting Storage actually killed my lock screen, notifications, and I couldn't even open settings afterwards. Luckily I backed up in TB before wiping, after restoring everything is back to normal but still no MW tray

Do you have an addon that affects multiwindow? Something from xposed, perhaps?

Yes, just the MW Manager and Popup Window MOD. I didn't it would be the manager, but I deselected the Popup MOD and rebooted and it didn't help

I'm out of ideas then, sorry! Hopefully someone more knowledgeable will come along and help you.

I figured it out, it was Gravity Box, apparently I can't change any buttons or it overrides the long back press to open MW. However in trying to solve one problem I think I created another. At the time I didn't realize GB was causing the problem and I wanted to have my settings to go back to default, my ROM dev recommended a dirty flash. My MW issue has been resolved but now Xposed seems like it doesn't have full root access. Root works for everything else, and a lot of Xposed features are working, but certain things (write to SD, GB's Smart Radio, GB's Status Bar icon color change to name a few) won't work/changes don't stick. The GB options are greyed out even after clicking On. I've tried uninstalling SuperSU updated and reinstalling, and fully uninstalling/reinstalling Xposed but nothing has worked so far. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Glad you figured that out. Kinda thought it was an xposed issue, since I too had problems at first. Unfortunately I lost root so I don't have xposed anymore.
