Hi. I just sold my galaxy s7 to some people who are having trouble with it. I factory reset it for them so tgere should not have been any issues. They sent me a screen shot of the s7 needing my gmail to verify the phone. It was asking for a previous acvount linked with the device. I thought the reset deleted all my info? The phone works fine so why wont it just let them input their own gmail? Please help they think i sold them a dud!

Sorry to say but you screwed up by not removing the Google account before the factory reset. The phone is locked to your Google account right now.
I believe Google calls it Factory Reset Protection. The purpose was to deter phone theft because the theif wouldn't be able to utilize the phone even after a factory reset because it's still tied to the owner's Google account. It's been a thing for around 5 years now.
Essentially they cannot use the phone until your Google account is logged in and then removed in the settings.

I'm curious how they went about factory reset? If they did within the phone settings should remove Google account. If they did through recovery probably not.

That's from 2016 , I think if they did from recovery it dont give option to remove accounts. Hope OP responds ,curious.

Factory reset requires that you log into the phone and remove the Google account. It's to protect you, in case someone steals your phone, foes a factory reset, and expects to be able to use the phone.
You'll either have to give them the password then, once they've reset the phone, reset the password, or get the phone back and remove it yourself. (If it still requires a Google login after that, create a Google account, make the password something like password or google, set that up and send the phone back to them with the new account and password.
(Starting a new Google account for yourself and giving them the login and password to the existing one only works if you don't use it for anything [including email]. If you use it, you don't want to change it. [All your paid apps will become not yours, if you have to download them again, they;ll be getting email sent to your old Gmail address, etc.])
[And please don't post the same question twice. We answer the questions we can answer when we see them, not immediately. And we give you the answers we have, whether you like them or not. Posting a second time isn't going to get you a different answer.]

You basically have three options.
A) Meet the buyer and enter your account info, or see if they are willing to send it to you. Log yourself in and complete the setup, then log out via the settings menu. With all Google accounts removed, do another factory reset and verify FRP was removed.
B) Contact them via phone call or similar, and give them your login info for them to enter into the phone. Stay on the phone with them while letting them finish the setup to access the phone's settings, log you out, and perform another reset as above. Immediately after they confirm all is well, change your account password so they can't use it later. This has a privacy risk so is not to be an option to consider lightly.
C) Refund them their money and hope they send the phone back. Make sure you get this one in writing. If you refund them and they keep the phone, that's theft, and you'll want the paper trail to try getting it resolved. Likewise, if you try to blow them off, they could try to make a claim against you. This may have been a mistake on your part, but it was still your responsibility to make sure the phone was in complete working order when selling it. If you refuse to correct the problem, they have the right to come after you for a refund as well.

Has anything changed since then? I wonder if this part of the article is still valid: On phones running Android 6 Marshmallow or later there shouldn't be any problems as long as you choose to factory reset your phone through its settings. This will automatically remove all the associated accounts in a way that "frees" the phone from FRP.
I always thought that you still had to remove the Google account before doing a reset, even if it's through the settings. But I haven't tested it myself, since I haven't been interested in spending the time to set up any of my devices again. Maybe I'll try it with one of my crappy backup devices, like the Honor 5X.
