How can I make it so my screen has better viewing in daylight?

Has anyone experienced not being able to see the incoming call on the screen while outside in the daylight? I could not get my screen bright enough. I even took it to AA&T and they couldn't. We tried changing themes but that didn't help on the lock screen.

Which phone are you using? Some are known to be very difficult to see in sunlight (my old S4 is almost impossible to use on a sunny day)
