Android Central Question

Hi,

My house is long with the main router at 1 end. As my office is in the back of the house, I have run the network through a power line adapter to give me wi-fi in the back room. It works great for all my static devices.

However, my phone never wants to switch networks. It can always just about pick up both, but if I'm far from the router whilst it says it's connected it won't really have any internet access.

I was wondering if there's any way to make my phone more sensitive and switch networks more easily? I know there are situations where this could be annoying, but I'd like to try it if possible to see if it works for me.

Welcome to Android Central! That's pretty common in this situation, and can be frustrating. I did that for a while, but ultimately changed to a mesh router system (Google Wi-fi), which is light years better. Not a direct solution for what you have, I know, but it's worth considering.

Hi,

I've got a One Plus 5t. I do have both networks saved, but as it can technically pick them both up everywhere in the house, it defaults to the one it was most recently connected to. This means that half the time whilst I am connected, it doesn't really enable me to use the internet.

Check if the Smart Wifi Switcher is On or not. You can find it through Settings > Wifi > Wi-Fi preferences and Switch on the "Smart Wifi switcher" or the new name of it is "Intelligently select the best Wifi".
