Android Central Question

I am trying to add a Direct Dial widget to my home screen for a contact. This contact has two phone numbers: a mobile number and a work number. When I place the widget where I want it and select the contact, it does not let me choose which phone number I want. It just selects the main number (the mobile number). I want to add a Direct Dial widget for the secondary number as well. How do I pick which number I want?

Thank you for your response. I did think about doing that, but I don't want to have to do that for multiple contacts.

The thing is, I am fairly certain that either 1. This issue is a bug arising from a recent software update, or 2. They have removed functionality to select which number you would like to have linked to that widget. I have been able to select the number in the past, but for some reason, I cannot select the number anymore.

As of Android 10, you get your contacts, with all numbers expanded (I think it was that way in Oreo and Pie too). Pick the number, and that's what the widget dials.

Welcome to Android Central! Yes, as Rukbat mentioned, make sure you're tapping directly on the specific number you want the widget to represent (rather than touching the contact name).
