How can I reinstall Google Play on my Droid Incredible 2

I could not log into Google Play--there was no place to log in anymore (previously I was permanently logged in). I uninstalled it, thinking I could start over. But now the closest I have come to getting Google Play back is to sign into Google Play on my computer where I get the message that I have already installed Google Play on my (phone) device. I think if I reset my phone to factory and used an alternate email address, I should be able to reinstall it. But I don't want to go there........
