How can I root my device safely?

Ive got an unbranded galaxy s3 i9300 and running 4.1.2, I want to root so I can overclock, can someone show me a simple step by step guide on how to do this withoit messing my phone up?

Basicly do you have odin mate and ill give u link to a file to download and unzip (im hoping ur better with PCs than me) n il tell what to do with it.
Make sure u have the s3 drivers and Kies ISNT running...

#1 download, extract and install odin.
Theres a good link on the thread i gave u :)
Also, plug ur phone in pc so it downloads drivers

What files did you use to root mate? Going to do it to my s3 4.1.2.

I used Exynos Abuse by chain fire on XDA. It's his protection against the SoC security hole, but also uses the hole to root your phone for you.
