How do I access "media storage"?

On my Droid Turbo 2 when I go into pretty much any app settings or my phone settings and access the notification tone or phone ringtone, a pop up comes up asking if you want to get the notification tone or phone ringtone from "media storage" or another app like a file manager app. So how do I access this media storage it asks about? Is using file manager app the same thing? Cause when I go into file manager app it just searches through the internal and external storage and not sure how to add media from that but when I click media storage a list of ringtones pops up. So thats what makes me think you can access it.

Media storage is just your internal storage location.
