How do I answer an incoming call when my Nexus 6p is lying flat on my desk and in the doze mode?

How to answer an incoming call when my Nexus 6p is lying flat on my desk and in the doze mode,

I can't figure out how to answer an incoming call as above. When I pick the phone up and touch the fingerprint devise the phone stops ringing, so that is not the answer. I've tried swiping on the screen in all directions to no avail. Must be some little thing that I'm not doing to be able to answer a call. Can anyone out there help me.

By flat you meant face down? cuz default call screen will show when a call comes in regardless of doze
