How do I connect my computer and my LG G4 together with an hotspot?

how close to my computer must my lg g4 be to my computer as a hotspot

I can get a signal of about -68 db on my cellphone but it is approximately 30 feet from my laptop. This is done by using a wilson cellphone signal booster and I have to put the phone close to the inside antenna to get a good signal.

I live in an area of poor reception.

any suggestions to improve my connection will be appreciated.

Welcome to Android Central! From what I found on the web, the range of a phone's hotspot can be anywhere from 30 to 100 feet. The range will be much less than a dedicated router/access point, because it takes power to generate the signal. Can you move the laptop closer to the phone, instead of vice-versa?

What carrier do you have? Is the signal booster from them, or did you get it yourself?

I am on sprint. I installed the wilsoon booster myself. It has worked fine up until lately. I installed a signal meter on my laptop and it shows that my signal strength for wifi is 74% which seems good to me. However, Iam really having trouble with my devices. I am going to move my laptop closer to my antenna and phone and see if thata helps. I appreciatte you help
