Welcome to Android Central! Is it the stock Gallery app, or the Google Photos app? Select the photo so that it becomes fullscreen, and look for the garbage can icon. Or tap the Menu button for a Delete option. If you're in the Gallery app and you're looking at a cloud photo (i.e., one that's saved to your Google Photos in the cloud), then you probably can't delete it using the stock Gallery app--you have to use the Google Photos app.
