How do disable auto-sleep and disable auto display poweroff - application-related

Hi, this is related to apps like Ingress and Pokemon Go.

At first, maybe the more simple problem. How to disable screen fading/poweroff, while running a certain application? Now, I know about setting (in DEV mode I hope), which forces the phone keeping screen ON at any time. Althrough this is a solution i a way, I am lookung for self-maintaining solution, where I will not be forced to dig in settings and manualy switching it on and off, depending on if I want to play or not.

Second question may be more difficult but more important for me. How to disable phone sleep mode, while the app is running. If I play, I want to save some battery keeping the display off, if I dont want to stare on the screen while I walk. But when I power off the screen by short pressing power off button, it goes to sleep, and GPS too. So the application in background does not have the geo data needed, and cannot warn me, when something is nearby ( and when I do it like I said, even on game map I am where I pressed the power button, untill it does sync again).
So, any solution, how to keep phone alive, even if screen is not ON, if CERTAIN APP is running?

I use Tasker to lengthen the screen timeout. I raise it to 5 minutes or, if I'm plugged into a power source, I set it to 30. I don't root my phone but I understand that you'd have more options that way. When I leave PGO it (usually) sets it back to my original values.

Settings->display. You can extend to 10 minute sleep.

i have been looking for the same thing but ive only been able to find rooting solutions.

I use Tasker to change the screen on duration to 5 minutes (or 30 minutes if plugged in) when PoGO is running. When the app loses focus the duration returns to its original value (usually).
