How do I get Marshmallow on an unbranded Galaxy S6?

I have this Galaxy S6 I got in a normal shop here in Switzerland. No branding (I also switched providers no issues). Up to 5.1.1 I received updates albeit delayed, but now there are 4 months since Samsung claimed it started pushing the upgrade, and SideSync (or the OTA update settings) won't show me any available updates. Is there anything I can set or verify or do anything in order to get the official update - without rooting the phone? Thank you!

Welcome to Android Central! What's the exact model number? There are many different variants, and it's possible that some variants don't have the Marshmallow update.

The CSC code is G920FAUV3QOJ1 - indeed I can find no update for AUV but maybe it's just me...
Anyway, is it dangerous to root it then play another Marshmallow country code variant?

That can be dangerous. Flashing a firmware for a different phone variant can potentially brick the phone.
