How do I get my LG G7 speech to text function to work again?

I have an LG G7 model LM-0710VMP. Ever since Verizon made me download there security update in April the speech to text microphone symbol in my different text programs disappeared from the "Smart Toolbar" below the text typing box. Now I have to type everything and can no longer dictate by voice to the apps. I have turned on all the permissions that I could relate to this problem, all to no avail. I am a slow cellphone typer and I would love to have this function back.

Thanks for getting back to me, B. Diddy. In Safe Mode all the apps I am concerned with regarding this problem are disabled (grayed out): WhatsApp, Hangouts, Skype, Messages, etc. Also, "Messaging" app does work, but the microphone button in the "Smart Toolbar" is missing there as well. This all happened in April when Verizon made me download there latest system patch and kept my phone from working any longer until I did. So I downloaded it and this function disappeared in all these texting apps.

I'm trying to figure out if the Smart Toolbar was a feature of the keyboard or some other part of the system, but I can't find much about it. Maybe @Mooncatt might know, since he has more direct experience with LG.

Sorry, but I haven't heard of a Smart Toolbar. I didn't use the G7 (only the G4, V20, and V60), so maybe it was a limited feature? I didn't even see anything about it with a Google search.

Michaeld7, could you give us some more info or screenshot on where or how you access the toolbar? I wonder if there's miscommunication here.

Not sure IF this issue has been resolved - BUT - I was able to locate the "smart toolbar" on the lg g7 - it's under LG KEYBOARD (a quick search in settings for the word "smart" returned several options - and "smart toolbar" (on my device) was at the bottom)

it's a toggle - on/off - but there are other things that may need to be adjusted while there...i do not use lg's keyboard, so have no clue...I use gboard, and imo, find it has the ability for more customization...
