How do I keep apps loaded in RAM longer?

So I've noticed that if I'm in app A and I switch to app B for say 5 minutes, app A doesn't save it's state, but rather relaunches from scratch.

I'm pretty certain I haven't utilized all the RAM this phone has to offer, so why isn't it being put to use?

Apps in question are Reddit (almost always), Tapatalk (sometimes), and Möbius Final Fantasy (sometimes).

Is this a property of the phone or the way the app is designed?

Are you using Developer options in the Settings? If so, there is a check box for "Don't keep activities (Destroy every activity as soon as the user leaves it). This should be switched off.

If not, does this behavior happen even after a fresh reboot?

Just enabled developer options to check, and that option is indeed switched off.

I'll continue to monitor the behavior over restarts.
