How do I make my htc One turn back on?

I was on my phone and it started lagging. No big deal. I just sat and patiently waited on it, but then the screen went black as if it shut off and wouldn't turn back on. I've tried plugging it in and none of the lights on it turn on. I've let it sit on a charger for over 24hrs and it still will not turn on. This is the second time its happened and I'm frankly growing quite tired of it. Help would be much appreciated.
