On my iPhone, I used to click on the file and it would open it automatically.

I clicked on a txt file and Note 3 says it cannot open it.

Is there a way to make it open when I click on the file on a web page?

If not, what app do I need?

Thanks.

Can you set it up so that it will automatically open the file as soon as it has been downloaded? Or is it in my phone setting?

Thanks.

You could also install Kingsoft Office from the play store. It's free and will open PDF, txt, docx and about any other Microsoft Office format.

Doesn't your Polaris Office 5 open it?
It does for me or try QuickOffice.

Well if you set the default app to open the .txt files, it should open automatically when you select the file using your file browser.

They open fine using astro file Explorer.

It doesn't open if you select the recent downloaded file from the notification panel.

I can open them with the apps I have also. However they do not open from the website directly.

I did some more testing for you and learned that in order to get this to open right away, you will have to switch Internet browsers.

Both Chrome and the default browser will not open the file like you requested.

I tried three other browsers and it worked. Here are the browsers it worked:
Firefox, Dolphin, and UC browser.

wow. Thank you. I have Uc browser and it works better. I didn't expect Chrome to have a disadvantage like this. Thanks again
