I just got my Nexus 4.
How do I put my songs in this phone? I tried downloading the Google music manager but it won't let me download. It comes that Google play is only available in selected regions. So how do I put my songs in it? :s
I'm from India btw.

plug it in to your computer and copy paste the songs you want. Might have to use the stock music player or download another from play store

Note that "Google Play Music" is a player for streaming music off Google's cloud services. You will want a player for music on-device. Might I recommend JukeFox? It's a smart player that has lots of great features and play modes. It also learns from you as you use it. :)

If you often buy music from Amazon, check out the Amazon MP3 app. It's pretty user-friendly, such as giving you the choice of which songs and albums to download to the N4 and which ones to access from the cloud.

most probably Amazon mp3 is restricted in India too.

Not true. Google Play Music works just fine for playing music locally. Just transfer the music files (mp3's, whatever) to the music directory and select "On Device" in Google Play music instead of "All Music" and it eliminates music form the cloud and sorts the local music files by Genre, Artists, Albums and Songs. It also has enough other features for me.

I recommend an app like ES FIle Explorer to access your network to copy files over.

If you don't mind the performance hit to your computer for a couple of days as GP takes its sweet time uploading everything.

This has nothing to do with GPM. The PC is writing to storage. GPM only reads it off of storage after that is done.

If you are used to the iTunes method, download double twist to your computer. Works like a charm if Google music isn't.

But it does. You have to go through a days-long upload process before you can use GPM. I wouldn't advise anyone to go through that when there are more user-friendly options out there.

Reread his post. He said for local use, meaning transferring music from a pc to the storage on the phone and playing from there. There is no uploading involved.

It's pretty expensive. Generally speaking most apps are at a max $2.99

I tried some of the cheaper ones, and it was a hassle. This works each and every time, quickly. Worth a couple of extra dollars to me.

What other ways are there to get all of your music in the cloud that is faster? Pretty sure it has to do with your connections internet upload speed more so than it does GPM.
