AC Question

Google assistant has taken over my phone. Usually if you long press the home screen button Google wpuld pop up. Now just a short tap and Google assistant pops up. I have to do all kinds if maneuvering to get back to my home screen, it's super annoying. Even when i turn it off it still pops up but with the option to turn it on instead, still not allowing me to go to my home screen. How do I remove it from this button? I don't mind using it but this way of ushing it is annoying. I have an S7 edge if that means anything

I don't believe you can remove it from the Home button, but it should only come up with a long press, not a short tap which should still take you home. If you bring up Assistant, hit the 3 dots in the corner and go to Settings. There is a toggle for Google Assistant, turn that off and see if it helps.

Same EXACT problem. NOTHING works to take it off. Even when you remove it, and you push the home button it says the assistant is off and asks if you want it on. Super Annoying, and impossible to navigate without taking 12 steps.

Same problem here. Samsung Galaxy S6 on 7.0. Assistant opens up when SHORT pressing home. I tried inactivating the Google App but it is still corrupted as Home button does not start working properly. I am considering factory reset and reinstalling everything but Google. What also happens in my case is that the power button also stops functioning properly. Seems there is some clash in processes going on there.

Settings > apps > setting icon > default apps > Assist & voice input > assist app

Then change google to your prefered launcher.

In my case I just wanted the home button to go to the home screen
So I selected the "home launcher"app from playstore.
Then had a home screen widget "Dhome" from playstore to use with the launcher.

Its working now but what a mission for just a simple task!!
