Welcome to Android Central! I assume you have a Samsung phone--which one? Most preinstalled "bloatware" apps can't be uninstalled unless you root the phone. The best you can do is Disable (sometimes called Turn Off) the app in the App Manager--this prevents it from opening and taking up any active RAM.

GeoNews won't even let you turn it off. Turn off appears in application manager for the app only after you uninstall the update but it is grayed out so can't be selected. Why do we HAVE to keep all these stupid bloatware apps? We should have the option of getting rid of anything we want on equipment we paid retail for (unlocked) and own.

No argument here. Complain to the handset manufacturer. Or use your dollars to protest and buy a different device!

It doesn't work, it keeps reinstalling itself even after clicking the "force close". It pisses me off that it has access to my contacts, texts, photos and can change my security settings!

@PHauser Agreed, I had a weather alert in my county and when it failed to alert me I found that every privilege imaginable was given it. Some how finding an uninstall I took the opportunity only to have it reinstall itself, way too many privileges. Why are we having this problem still? Are execs so rogue as to ignore the costumers? Really, c##p will hit the fan when these apps breach national security! Wonder why government officials have to use Blackberry?
