Sending MMS without a data plan

Hello, I am on a plan that does not consist of any data, but my plan does allow sending and recieveing pictures/ videos, which does not make sense. I turned on my roaming mobile data and am now receiving them? It's great, but I'm afraid that I will be billed. It says that I have used up to so far, 2.2mb of data which is only by sending pictures.
In general I am confused about whether or not I will be charged.

Call your carrier and ask. Different carriers do things differently.
