AC Question

Setting alarm to sound without turning ringtone on.

Hi there,

I recently upgraded from the S3 to the S5.
It seems that the alarm volume and the ringtone volume are directly linked. As in, if my ringtone is set to mute, my alarm wont sound.
I haven't been able to figure out a way to bypass this.
I'd like to have my alarm sound even when the ringtone is set to mute or vibrate.

Anyone now how to do this?

Cheers!

Re: Setting alarm to sound without turning ringtone on.

The only way I could find to do this is to actually set your ringtone to silent.

Settings/Sounds & Notifications

Scroll down to "Ringtones" and tap on that. A list of available ringtones will pop up. Choose "silent" which should be at the top of the list.

This will disable your ringtone, but will still play your alarm tone.

Seems like a real pita because you'll have to do the same thing to turn the ring tone back on, but I'm not aware of any other way.

It looks as though you are running a very old version of Lollipop as this issue was fixed back in February. There is a very good thread that lists the workarounds for this...
