how to stop a droid from lighting up non stop with Moto Display?

I just switched from an iphone to the droid turbo 2 under a week ago. I was wondering if there is a way to stop it from lighting up every time it moves with moto display on. I prefer moto display and have all of the motion settings in the moto app switched to off.. any ideas? Also, when i get a notification the phone lights up and then goes dark then lights up again five or six times.. is there any way to stop that?

I had that second problem on an older Moto X.
I fixed it by turning off adaptive brightness.

Open the moto app and go to display, turn it off and your problem /should/ be fixed
