How do I stop random text messages on my HTC One Mini?

HTC One Mini Text Problems

I get numerous texts each day saying 'SMS just got better' from Activate Rich Communications service.
I can either cancel or activate by adding in my phone number.
I've done both on numerous occasions but I keep the message dozens of times a day and it is very annoying.

Does anyone know how to stop this?

I've been having the same pestering notifications... can't find any information as to what activating "Rich Communications" does, and I'm immensely skeptical of anyone claiming to have 'improved' something as basic as SMS - that just sounds like they've probably tacked on unnecessary extras and a layer of graphical shiny and called it 'better'.

Searching for solutions, I just found your post repeated and mirrored in half a dozen places, but my approach to killing it has been to go to Settings>>Apps>>All, scroll down until I found "Rich Communications Service" in the list, then unchecked the box to allow notifications before hitting "Disable", "Force stop" and "Clear Data". Now hoping that it'll stay dead.
