How do I transfer files directly from Pixel 7 Pro to a flash drive?

Do you see any option to allow USB storage access in Files by Google, as mentioned in the link I previously shared?

Hi B Diddy. I never received a request for permission to access in Google files. However, when I open files, the flash drive appears in the storage section and I can access the files on it. I just can't copy anything to the drive

These are my relevant screens. As can be seen, the flash drive is recognized in Google files. The second screenshot shows how after I select and then choose either "move to" or "copy to" only internal storage is an option.

BTW, I have tried several flash drive with the same result

Have you tried a 3rd party file manager yet, like Total Commander?

Are you able to move a file from the USB drive to Internal Storage?

If you press on the 3 horizontal lines on the top left of your screenshot, does it not give you access to the USB storage/internal storage and you can copy files from there..? I'm sure that's how I did it...

Unfortunately not. When I press the 3 dots I can choose to move or copy a file but the flash drive is not included as a destination option - only internal storage

Hi! A bit late to the party, but I recently got an M.2 USB case to convert an old ssd into a USB drive. When trying it out on my pixel 7 Pro I ran into the same issue as you, where the Google files app detects the drive, but does not allow me to write to it. I tried total commander and it allows me to write to the USB drive, but I still prefer the simple interface of the Google files app.

Looking around a bit more inside the Google files app I actually found a way to write to the USB drive from the phone's internal storage, by going down to:

Storage devices -> Internal Storage -> selecting folder and file(s) of choice -> click the three dots -> copy or move -> two options now show up, internal storage and the name of my USB drive!

So it seems to be a bug of the Google files app, where you cannot copy to a USB drive in any other way than by clicking your entire way through the file tree of your internal storage to your desired files.

Hope this helps someone!

/Oscar
